The Federal Government has announced that it saved N1.7 trillion between 2009 and 2022 by plugging loopholes in its procurement process. This revelation was made by the acting Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement, Olusegun Omotola, during a fact-finding tour of government agencies by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Gbajabiamila commended the Bureau for its efforts, stating that the 2025 budget for State House agencies will be based on a thorough needs assessment to ensure funding is allocated based on actual requirements. He emphasized the importance of transparency in procurement, innovation, and professionalism among agency staff.

The Chief of Staff also hinted at possible mergers or scrapping of under performing agencies, emphasizing the need to prioritize resources and align agency mandates with the administration’s vision.

The tour aimed to assess agency performance, welfare, and working conditions, with a focus on driving the government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
