The Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KPMG to promote sound and value-based procurement practices in Ghana.
The partnership aims to build capacities and synergies to tackle procurement-related infractions and wastages in both the public and private sectors.
GIPS President, Simon Annan, emphasized the importance of collaborations in managing public finances and sanitizing the procurement landscape. He noted that the strategic partnership aligns with the institute’s vision of building the right alliances and support systems.
KPMG’s Head of Advisory and Markets, Andy Akoto, assured that KPMG is ready to work with GIPS to strengthen ethical and control systems, and address procurement-related wastages, particularly in the public sector.
He highlighted the need for private sector and civil society organizations to step up their efforts in helping to reduce procurement-related wastages.
The partnership will focus on assessing and supporting the passage of the proposed Procurement Practising Bill, as well as utilizing KPMG’s digital learning platforms to build skills and capabilities of local procurement professionals.
