The Supply Chain Magazine has named Evelyn Sam, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Airtel Tigo, Ghana as its Procurement and Supply Chain Personality of the Week.
Evelyn’s career journey reflects her commitment and skill in the supply chain field. She currently serves as the Chief Supply Chain Officer at Airtel Tigo in Ghana, where she builds strong teams and implements strategic supply chain management (SCM) strategies.
She is an outstanding associate in the supply chain industry in Ghana and beyond. As a full member of both the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) and the Ghana Institute of Procurement & Supply (GIPS), she brings over 30 years of experience in retail, manufacturing, and telecommunications to the table.
In 2023, Evelyn earned recognition as one of the TOP 50 African Supply Chain Leaders by APSCA, underscoring her influence and expertise. Her accolades also include the Woman Procurement & Supply Chain Professional of the Year (Private Sector) at the 2nd Ghana Procurement & Supply Chain Awards in September 2019. Proudly, she has been listed among the Top 20 Procurement Leaders for two consecutive years, 2018 and 2019, by the GPSCA.
Evelyn’s judging role at the CIPS Middle East Supply Management Awards in June 2019 in Dubai highlighted her standing in the global supply chain community. Her achievements further include winning the Industry Personality of the Year 2018 (Private Sector) at the inaugural Ghana Procurement & Supply Chain Awards.
She managed all supply chain activities as the General Manager 2009 to 2018 at Scancom Ltd (MTN Ghana). Her earlier roles include Company Planning Manager at Unilever (1998-2008), Supply Chain Manager at Paint Magic Ltd in London (1996-1997), and Bought Ledger Manager at Harrods in London (1990-1995).
Evelyn’s educational background complements her extensive professional experience. She holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Leadership and Sustainability from the University of Cumbria, completed in 2018, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Chemistry from London Metropolitan University, obtained in 1987.
